Top Health Tips For The Holidays

Christmas should be a happy time of year but for those on a diet it can be a nightmare. If you live a healthy lifestyle or you just chose to watch what you eat, the supermarkets can be a minefield over the festive period. If you've spend months working hard at your diet you don't want to undo it all in a few days but at the same time it doesn't seem fair to deny yourself a few treats.

You need to find a way to keep your mind off all those yummy treats lying around the house. Investing in a new piece of exercise equipment could be the perfect distraction. Something along the lines of a vibrating plate can help you tone your muscles and stay trim. You can even still enjoy the festive television whilst you're using it. These exercise plates tone and strengthen your muscles as they're exposed to thousands of tiny vibrations every minute causing the muscles to contract. If vibration plates aren't practical make the most of having a few days away from the office. Maybe you could go for a nice walk, there must be somewhere nearby you're always wanted to explore but never got around to.

You may also want to think about having a look at what food is knocking about. The chances are your family are going to have calories everywhere. If your diet is important to you make sure you've got several low fat alternatives to the Christmas favourites. Instead of tucking into bags of crisps opt for vegetable crisps instead. Do some home baking and whips of a batch of oatmeal cookies to have instead of the regular ones. When everyone else is knocking back the calorie laden wine, stick to gin and tonic which has much less calories. As much fun as you're planning on having over Christmas remember at some point you will have to deal with any pigging out you did in the new year. It's fine to enjoy the odd treat no matter how strict your diet is just take everything in moderation. Don't forget the classics, eat slowly so you can recognise when you're full up and drinking a glass of water before your meal always helps too.
