Comflor® The most efficient Decking profile currently available in the Steel Deck Industry?

Architects, Designers and Steel Decking Construction planners around the world will no doubt be rather excited about the concept of the ComFlor® decking system. Conventional for shallow or deep decks and probably the most efficient decking profile currently available around the world today.

ComFlor® is the perfect profile for shallow decks, suitable for conventional composite construction where the deck is placed onto the top flange supporting steel beam while at the same time offering particular application benefits.

ComFlor® in a deep deck span with typical un-propped spans extending to 6 metres and propped spans to 9 metres. The deck is contained within the beam depth, which provides a very shallow floor zone. This provides a minimal shape of the deck profile allowing for services to be integrated and the whole system provides inherent fire resistance.

ComFlor® has strength, with the use of steel frames in new buildings as one of the biggest trends increase globally due to the advantages that include facilitating lightweight buildings with long clear spans. Large areas of deck can be rapidly craned into position and potential for up to 400m2 laid by one team per day. Minimal mesh reinforcement and pumped concrete, the completed floor can quickly follow. Once it is laid the deck can be used as a safe working platform for all subsequent work with temporary props usually eliminated. The deck acts as a lateral restraint to the beams and acts as a diaphragm, transmitting wind load from the outer steelwork to the core contributing significantly to the stability of the structure. The efficiency of composite construction and displacement of concrete by the profile shape, considerable less concrete is therefore used than in conventional reinforced concrete construction, reducing both primary structure and the foundations. Composite beams use the slab as a compression element, which increases their stiffness and reduces their size, compared to a conventional reinforced slab which requires more depth, ComFlor® saves with reduced floor zone and overall floor height. Due to extensive testing in the fire engineering work results if up to 4 hours are available with the use of light mesh within the composite slab. ComFlor® composite floor decks incorporate systems for the easy attacjhment services, emitting the requirement to fix into concrete.
